Making Money from Government Foreclosures

You're probably still wondering if there are some good profit potential you could earn through government foreclosures. So what are government foreclosures? There are numerous department in the government that are good sources of foreclosed properties:

  • U.S. Departments of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
  • Veterans Affairs (VA)
  • Agriculture (USDA/Rural Development)

There are other government agencies where auctioned properties are available.  But when it comes government home foreclosures these are your main sites.  What so nice about our government is the listing of foreclosed properties is free.  There are so many sites right now that are requiring you to pay for a subscription of foreclosure listing.

The HomeSales.gov web site provides current information about single family homes for sale by the U.S. Federal Government. These previously owned homes are for sale by public auction or other method depending on the property. Anyone can buy a home for sale by the U.S. Government, but you must work with a real estate agent, broker or servicing representative to submit an offer or bid.

Make sure that you're familiar with the regulations and procedures if you're planning to buy government foreclosures homes.  You have to remember that you're going to be dealing with the government .  Everything have to followed to the very last details and some of it may not make any sense to you.  And it could even test how long is your patience on some occasions where the transaction is getting to be very slow.  To avoid some frustrations it would be beneficial for you to screen the real estate agent /broker you're going to work with.  Ask how many government foreclosure homes he sold in the past.  Time is always the key when you're bidding for a certain property.  Mishandling of paperwork could be a costly mistake you can't afford to have.
